Forever Jerusalem
I took my third trip to Israel in May of 2017, but it was my first time traveling alone, and my first visit to the spectacular northern regions of Israel.
My first night was spent at the Tel Aviv Beach Hotel, and then off the next morning with my private driver up the northern coast of Israel to Kibbutz Ga’Aton, the only dance kibbutz in the world. I rented a small apartment on the kibbutz for a week where I visited my daughter, a trainee at the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. With my private tour guide, I spent my days exploring The Sea of Galilee, Akko, Sfad, and the port city of Haifa. At night, I hung out with the dancers on the Kibbutz, enjoying performance in the Zichri Theater and grabbing a delicious hummus snack at the restaurant on the kibbutz. The north was quieter than the bustle of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. A diversity of cultures co-exist in these small northern towns and cities. There are fewer tourists, offering the opportunity
for both relaxation and exploration without fighting the crowds.
My trip did end with a day in Jerusalem, where my private guide took me through lush neighborhoods and into the modern shopping districts that I had not seen on prior visits. We enjoyed watching the locals from our seat at a trendy cafe.
I will never tire of visiting Israel. Both ancient and modern, there is no where more exciting, beautiful, and spiritual.
